We are pleased to announce that Geodeticca Vision, in collaboration with partner GEOFEM, has achieved success in the 9th European Space Agency (ESA) PECS call in Cyprus with the project SAFEGUARD. This innovative project aims to develop a deformation monitoring system for critical infrastructures such as dams, bridges and others, using InSARsatellite data combined with ground-based sensors mounted on the monitored objects. The main objective of the project is to prevent accidents by improving planning and maintenance, thereby reducing the need for manual inspections, increasing efficiency and achieving cost savings.

Key activities of the SAFEGUARD project include:

  • Consultation with potential end-users to determine the functional, performance and technical requirements for the proposed system.
  • Development of automation for the collection and publication of in-situ sensor data into a common monitoring platform.
  • Development of a common monitoring platform including satellite data processing and modelling algorithms.
  • Testing of the platform on three dams in Cyprus and two bridges in Slovakia.

The SAFEGUARD project uses space technology and promotes international cooperation to develop a solution with potential application not only in Cyprus and Slovakia but globally

Synergy of GEOFEM and Geodeticca Vision platforms for safer infrastructures

The project will create an innovative monitoring platform by linking GEOFEM’s InSAR platform with our AMON platform, which enables real-time monitoring based on in-situ sensors. The resulting solution will thus combine the advantages of satellite and ground-based data into one comprehensive system, bringing more efficient and reliable monitoring of critical infrastructures to the market.

The SAFEGUARD project is a significant step towards ensuring the safety and operational efficiency of critical infrastructures through the innovative use of space technologies and new monitoring solutions.
